The London Library Italian Reading Group is delighted to welcome Beatrice Sica, Associate Professor in Italian Studies at University College London, to give this talk, open to all Library members, on the great Italian novelist, essayist, playwright and activist Natalia Ginzburg, whose work has recently enjoyed a resurgence thanks to new translations and publications from Daunt Books. This talk will offer an introduction to Ginzburg’s life, oeuvre, and writing style, with a focus on Ginzburg’s most famous book, Lessico famigliare (1963, Family Lexicon) and her last novel, La città e la casa (1984, The City and the House).

Beatrice Sica is Associate Professor in Italian Studies at University College London and a scholar in Italian literature and cultural history. Her expertise lies in the literature, history, and culture of modern and contemporary Italy.
