House of Stories: The Library at Chatsworth

Enjoy a curator-led tour of the library at Chatsworth and accompanying exhibition, showcasing just some of the highlights of the Devonshire family's exceptional collection. Assembled over a span of 500 years, the library is home to rare books and letters by many members and close associates of The London Library, including Lord Byron, Charles Dickens, Patrick Leigh Fermor, William Thackeray and Oscar Wilde.

Following lunch in the Hartington Room*, you will have the opportunity to explore the house and grounds at your leisure. The wider collection features works of art that span 4,000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, and masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to modern works by Lucian Freud, David Nash and London Library member Edmund de Waal.
